Family room remodel-shiplap fireplace
We finished! The family room and shiplap fireplace are officially checked off of the list. If you love a good before and after project this one takes the cake! It’s one room that I can completely say expresses my style and all things I love. Crisp white walls, modern clean lines, and warm accessories. Every time my husband and I walk into this room we just stop and say wow, just wow. We also high five because “teamwork makes the dream work! “ right?! I wish I could invite you all over to enjoy this space with us. 🙂
It all started with these amazing refinished floors and fresh white paint. We knew we were going to update the fireplace and when we did it would be a big change, but it is officially the best feature of this home! Luke Stoddard never ceases to amaze me with how he brings my design visions to life. Plus he does it in record time. With some large grey tiles and shiplap from Lowe’s, it’s the perfect mix of modern, coastal, and farmhouse. Also, a simple thin piece of unfinished ash is all this fireplace needed for the perfect mantle. This was previously a wood burning fireplace and we wanted this project to be as easy as possible so we went with an electric insert. I found the best price on this Dimplex revillusion insert and it is so realistic! Plugged it in and it was ready to go.
Lastly, I scoured Connecticut and the internet for each and every piece I filled this family room with. They all serve a purpose and make me smile!

April 7, 2019 at 12:53 amHi! I bought it at Home Depot last year and I can’t remember the name but at the time it was the only 12×24 grey tiles they had to order. Closest one I could find to looking like cement or stucco. If I find the name I’ll reply again 🙂
